What exactly is stainless steel? स्टेनलेस स्टील म्हणजे नेमके काय ?

                           Stainless steel is an alloy or alloy. Stainless steel is made by mixing other metals so that the iron does not rust. Stainless steel does not rust so. It does not stain with oily acids. Stainless steel contains steel along with chromium, nickel and copper. Nickel and copper are lower than chromium. Stainless steel is considered to be of the best quality if the chromium content in the stainless steel is more than 30%. Such steel iron is not attracted to the magnet. Stainless steel alloys are very strong and tough. Stainless steel is used to make large items from small parts of a watch to spacecraft.

                        स्टेनलेस स्टील हे धातूंचे मिश्रण किंवा मिश्र धातू आहे लोखंडाला गंज चढू नये म्हणून त्यात इतर धातू  मिसळून स्टेनलेस स्टील तयार केले जात.  स्टेनलेस स्टील त्यामुळे गंजत नाही.  त्यावर तेलकट आंबट पदार्थांचे डाग पडत नाहीत.स्टेनलेस स्टीलमध्ये पोलादाबरोबर क्रोमिअम,निकेल व तांबे असते. निकेल व तांब्याचे प्रमाण क्रोमिअमपेक्षा कमी असते. स्टेनलेस स्टीलमध्ये क्रोमियम धातूचे प्रमाण 30 टक्‍क्‍यांपेक्षा जास्त असेल तर ते स्टेनलेस स्टील  उत्तम दर्जाचे मानले जाते. असे स्टील लोह चुंबकाकडे आकर्षिले जात नाही. स्टेनलेस स्टील मिश्र धातू अतिशय मजबूत व कठीण असतो . घड्याळाच्या छोट्या-छोट्या भागापासून ते अवकाशयान यांसारख्या मोठ्या वस्तू बनवण्यासाठी स्टेनलेस स्टील वापरले जाते.
